Summer For Kids 2025:
Save the date! Check out the schedule below for our lineup of summer camps and workshops.
Registrations Opens April 2025
Information about Required Paperwork:
When you register for Summer Camps at SAMFA, you will be required to fill out and complete the proper camp paperwork before your child will be allowed to attend camp. This information is important for the safety of all the campers, as well as the Summer For Kids Staff. You will be able to fill out this information completely online, via Airtable. A link will be sent to you once you have registered and paid for your spot in camp.
If you filled out paperwork on Airtable last summer, there is no need to fill it out this summer, but you WILL need to complete registration and submit payment. You are responsible for filing out camp aperwork before your child attends camp. If you do not provide the proper paperwork, your child can be dropped from camp.
What is Art of Nature?
The Art of Nature camps were inspired by the need for increased outdoor experiences for our children. “Nature Deficit Disorder” is a phrase coined by author Richard Louv and refers to the fact that children today spend more and more time indoors and therefore have less of a concept of their natural surroundings and the importance of caring for our earth.
Campers spend their days in activities such as creating learnscapes, hiking, hearing about native plants from a local botanist, creating community art from nature, visiting the Farmer’s Market, and creating healthy snacks. Campers are integrated with technology, science, art, and more interdisciplinary studies with specialists from Angelo State University. By not only experiencing our local natural environment but also reflecting on their own role in caring for our planet through visual art projects, these campers are immersed in this valuable intersection of art and science.
